How to make a bot realise its position? I saw the robocon in india and everybody seem to be reading the number of lines and dong the job, which i think is really slow method for the robot keeps adjusting its position...
i wanted to make position encoder whichwill allow the robot know its position, or the distance travelled by it.So that the objective will be completed by preprograming; such as go this much dist then turn 45degree right and open the arms after this much distance...which i think will be faster.
For that i opened my digital mouse but the IC number is not written on it.then i opened one ball mouse and i found that the ball ratates two rods which are connected to two discs which are having teeths.and there are 2 pairs of IR emitter and photodiodes.(So giving X and Y possition).I liked the system.
But, now i can make a counter to count the no of teeths passing or i can just use the circuit as it is.But i donot know what output does this circuit give.I dont know how to study the circuits on CRO or anything else.Please help.
